However her first release was Gautham Menon directed romance flick, Ye Maaya Chesave, which was a simultaneous remake of the Tamil film Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaayaa. Samantha received positive reviews for her portrayal in Ye Maaya Chesave, with the film also garnering much critical acclaim.
