Madhu Shalini in Director Bala's Avan Ivan

Oval face, Expressive Eyes and Perfect Structure that is Madhu Shalini! In some angles, she resembles Lekha Washington and Simran’s sister Monal. Madhu Shalini aka Asma Parveen was born and brought up in Hyderabad and she is a classical dancer in Kuchipudi dance form.

Like all beautiful actresses do, Madhu Shalini first participated in beauty contest, which she incidentally won, that paved the way to plunge into modelling career and she did modelling for Kirtilal Jewellers. Later she turned to television anchoring. After working as a television anchor for a short while, she debuted in Telugu film ‘Naa Pranamkante Ekkuva’ in 2005. Her next Telugu film 'Kithakithalu' released in 2006 became a hit.

After doing 3 more Telugu films, Madhu Shalini debuted in Tamil in 2007 through ‘Pazhaniappa Kalloori’ but the film failed at the box office and her debut in Tamil went unnoticed. After doing one more film ‘King’ (2008) in Tollywood, she was booked for a Tamil film ‘16’ opposite ‘Tamil Padam’ fame Mirchi Shiva and a Kannada film ‘Nagavalli’ which are still under filming.

While Madhu Shalini had been waiting for the right break to prove her mettle as an actress, she has got the offer to act in director Bala’s ‘Avan Ivan’ as one of the two heroines. You all know, Bala is now busy with the filming of ‘Avan Ivan’ with Arya, Vishal, Janani Iyer, Ambika and Prabha. Now, Madhu Shalini joins the crew. News says Avan Ivan is an out and out comedy film. There is also a rumour that Vishal acts in this film in a special get-up and make-up (a eunuch?) and that’s why he has been away from the eye of media and public for the past 10 months.

You all know Bala is a perfectionist. He has the capacity to bring out the potential in actors/actresses. He has given life to several actors who never thought they would be such a big star today. Either his film or protagonist in his film gets the National Award. Even if his film registers only a moderate success at the box office, the hero and heroine of his films would be flooded with fresh offers. There is a common thought among actors that they would become ‘perfect artist’ if they act under Bala’s direction and every actor/actress in the film industry would be yearning to be a part in his film. The only minus point of Bala is he takes too much time to complete a film. If Madhu Shalini uses this golden chance given by Bala by performing up to his expectation and perseveres till he completes this project, she would definitely become a notable star in Kollywood!
