Yesteryear actress Radha’s daughter Karthika has replaced Tamannah in ‘Ko’ is the latest buzz in Kollywood. Recently I wrote in this site that ‘Ko’ has a winning combination. Now, K.V.Anand drops Tamannah, a winning star from his film and he has chosen Karthika whose debut movie was a flop. Come on. Let’s probe the reason behind K.V.Anand’s decision.
You all know Radha was the uncrowned Queen of Kollywood for more than a decade since her debut in ‘Alaigal Oivathillai’ in 1981 opposite Karthik. There has been a rumour that Radha named her elder daughter as Karthika as a symbol of her intimate relationship with actor Karthik and she named her first lover’s name as all girls do. There is every reason to believe this gossip as there is already ‘Dindigul Sarathy’ fame Karthika and ‘Raman Thediya Seethai’ fame Karthika are present in Kollywood to confuse. Radha had actually wanted Karthika to be introduced in Tami film first with Karthik’s son Gowtham. Since it did not happen, Karthika made her debut in the Telugu film ‘Josh’ opposite Nagarjuna’s son Naga Chaitanya in 2009 that was driven out of theatres soon after release. Karthika pairs Santosh Sivan, Ace cameraman turned hero, in Malayalam film ‘Makaramanju’ (Winter Mist) which is under filming now. At this juncture, she has got the opportunity to join the winning combination ‘Ko’ opposite Silambarasan!
Yes. Karthika definitely looks young, slim and beautiful. But I feel her normal smiling pose itself be like a questioning look. Though she resembles Radha in some angles her face does not resemble a normal south Indian face and her smiling postures are not enticing. Whether she could deliver energy and emotions like Tamannah is also a big question. It is said that when K.V.Anand approached Tamannah for ‘Ko’ she was ready to give her date adjusting her call sheets but she demanded 75 Lakhs! She was not ready for bargaining as she has 3 big films in her hand and she has been branded as Lucky Actress. Considering the budget of the film, Anand booked Karthika who was ready to act without bothering about remuneration. “Nothing indicates the soundness of a man's judgment so much as knowing how to choose between two disadvantages”
