Kushboo joins DMK

Kollywood’s yesteryear heartthrob Kushboo joined DMK in front of Karunanidhi last Friday, belying expectations that she would join the Congress after the recent Supreme Court verdict catapulted her to nationwide fame. Kushboo debuted in Tamil through ‘Varusham 16’. She started reigning Kollywood from ‘Chinnathambi’ and she paired almost all the top heroes of South India. Her failure started from K.Balachandar’s ‘Jathi Malli’ and Bharathiraja’s ‘Captain Magal’. Then, she started anchoring reality shows and game shows in TV, appeared as Judge in TV Dance Shows and has been producing and acting in TV Mega Serials. Kushboo was a Mumbai born Muslim but she converted to Hinduism after marrying actor, director Sundar.C.

‘Vanthaarai Vazhavaikkum Thamizhagam’ is a famous Tamil saying you all know. Kushboo has seen the best and worst of Tamils in her 20 years of stay in Tamilnadu. At the peak of her career, her ardent fans constructed a Temple for her. In 2005, Dalit Panthers of India protested against Kushboo carrying brooms and slippers for her controversial remarks on premarital sex. (Kushboo said it was fine for girls to indulge in pre-marital sex after taking precautions to keep unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. She justified her statement by saying no educated man could expect his partner to be a virgin.)

After admitting Kushboo in his party, DMK leader Karunanidhi praised her for her ‘progressive views’ and her ‘deep conviction’ in the Dravida Movement ideals. In reply to a question Karunanidhi admitted that Kushboo winning the case in the Supreme Court was one of the reasons for her entry into the DMK fold (Rumors say a Supreme Court Judge, who handled Kushboo’s case, is a close friend of Kalaignar and he freed Kushboo from the case on the advice of Kalaignar).

Kushboo said she is not eyeing MLC Seat or biennial Rajya Sabha Seat and she joined DMK as her ideals are exactly the same as of the DMK. She will be on a twin-track of acting and working for DMK for Women’s empowerment and people’s welfare.

People know there is nothing good going to happen because of Kushboo’s entry in Politics. They are only curious to know the real reason behind this drama. Politics is like an ocean. Kushboo is like a bubble in that ocean. Will she vanish in the waves of the ocean or emerge as a real leader, future only could reveal it.
